Hey everybody. I hope everybody’s doing well. I’m excited to start the world tour next week. I hope you’re planning to come see me soon. The band is sounding better than ever. The show will be better than ever. I promise!
In the meantime, I’m in Houston right now preparing for the Latin Grammys. That’s right, the Latin Grammys. I recently recorded a Spanish version of “If You’re Out There” with Colombian superstar Juanes. “If You’re Out There” = “Si Tú Estás Ahí” in Spanish. We’re going to perform the live debut of the new version tonight on the Latin Grammys. I just finished rehearsing and it’s sounding really good.
I want to especially thank Juanes. He is a really genuine person and a great talent (and a great Spanish tutor too!). I’m so honored to share the stage with him. Just so you know, I studied Spanish in high school for 4 years and took another semester at UPenn, but I haven’t had much practice recently. But Juanes says my pronunciation is near perfect in the song. So all my Spanish-speaking fans can be the judge if he was just saying that!
Anyway, watch the show tonight on Univision. And look out for the recorded version on i-Tunes in the coming weeks.
Hasta luego,
John
P.S.: I just found out Juanes is short for Juan Esteban. Which is basically like John Stephen. And my real name is John Stephens.
Crazy coincidence.
Wow. I don’t know what to say really. I’m so proud and happy and moved this morning. I couldn’t sleep last night. Thanks to everybody who volunteered, rallied and voted. I feel really inspired right now. Like Barack said last night though, this is not the change we seek; this just gives us the chance to pursue that change. There’s a lot more work to do. Don’t tune out now. Stay vigilant. Stay involved. Hold our leaders accountable.
Peace & love,
John Legend
Good morrrrrrrning! (sung in the tune of my new song, of course) Welcome to the new and improved JohnLegend.com. Thanks so much for coming to check me out. As you probably know, today is the day we’ve been waiting for. My third studio album, Evolver, is in stores everywhere today. Did you get your copy yet?
I started the morning waking up at about 5am to get to the CBS studios and sound check for our performance on The Early Show. We did “Green Light” live on the show and taped “Everybody Knows” and “If You’re Out There” for a future airing. It was cool being back there. It took me back to my 26th birthday, December 28, 2004, when we released Get Lifted and performed on the same show on CBS that morning.
It’s been an incredible journey since that time. I’ve traveled the world several times over. I’ve played countless concerts and television shows, done hundreds of interviews, and met many of my fans all around the world. I’m so grateful for everything that has happened so far, and I’m grateful for your support up to this point. I couldn’t have done it without you.
We’re not even close to being finished yet though. We’re just getting started! The first leg of my U.S. tour starts in Minneapolis on November 19th, and between then and the end of 2009 we hope to visit a city near you, no matter where you live, all around the world.
As we keep traveling, I’ll keep you updated in this new blog. So keep coming back to see the updates. I’m excited to know what you think about all the new music, the new site and everything we’re doing, so feel free to post your comments.
Thanks again. Peace & Love!
John
